FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HAIR TRANSPLANTATION

How do you determine the direction of transplanted hairs?

In micro-surgical transplantations, directions are decided by looking at the direction of the hair in that region.

How long does hair transplantation take?

Approximately it takes 8 hours. But it depends the density of hair that will be transplanted.

When the patient gets their new hair?

After the 20th day of the transplantation, the tips of hairs begin to come off. The new hair starts to grow slowly from the third month after the onions remain inside. The most change occurs in the fifth and sixth months. In the following period, there is a ten percent increase every month and ninety percent of the transplanted hair occurs nine months after the operation.

Does the hair loss occur on the persons who did hair transplantation?

The transplanted hairs do not come off but the person’s own hair may continue to come off.

What is hair transplantation?

The definition of hair loss can be used for from thinning hair to complete hair loss. Under normal conditions, an average of 50 to 100 hair per day is lost in an adult individual. In abnormal situations, this number increases exponentially. Medical causes of hair loss include hormone changes, infectious diseases, major surgeries, prolonged high fever, stress, side effects of certain medications, and so on. Physical causes of hair loss include physical exposure such as exposure of hair to trauma, continuous pulling of hair, use of unsuitable chemicals and hair dyes, and exposure of hair to negative effects by means of curling irons.

Follicular unit groupings seen in close-up

It is the process of transferring from the non-spill area (the area between the two ears and sides of the head) to the genetically cast or closed openings due to an injury and to the required area. The process takes approximately 6-8 hours. The transplanted hair come off in one month. After third month it begins to grow again and it becomes long and dense in 6-8 months. 60-80 hair root is transplanted for each centimeter and this number may change depending the density of hair.

Male type hair loss:

Male type hair loss is typically a retraction of the front hairline and a reduction in hair on the top. Males does not have a specific age period for this process, it may even begin in puberty. The main reasons of this are genetic male hormones and age. You can see the stages of hair loss in the graphic.

Female type hair loss:

In females, hair loss is different from males. Thinning can be seen on top and front of hair.

FUT Method (Follicular Unite Transplantation)

Surgical removal of the hair in the nape region is the process of transferring it to the required area after it has been separated to the roots. With the developing technology, it is no longer preferred. As a result, it is a surgical procedure and is not preferred because of complications that may occur in terms of the comfort of people who have undergone suture healing.

FUE Method (Follicular Unite Extraction)

It is the procedure that is taken and transferred from both sides and neck of the head by micro surgery method. Since the hair transplantation performed by micro surgery is very fast, people can return to their social lives in a short period of days.

With this method, we call the donor / donor region and the hair that has the characteristic of non-shedding for a lifetime is the process of transferring the hair follicles to the hairless or sparse area by taking hair follicles with very thin needle tips (0.7 mm or thinner) under local anesthesia only. If necessary, back and chest regions can be used depending on the suitability of the hairs on the back and chest of the body.

In microsurgery, 0.8-1 tips are preferred according to the hair characteristics of the individuals. FUE hair transplantation is currently the most widely used in the world and satisfactory results are obtained. With this method, between 4000-8000 hair strands can be transplanted to people in one session.

DHI Method (Direct Hair Implantation)

DHI transplantation is a kind of FUE transplantation. But the main difference is it is a hair transplantation procedure which is done directly by placing the donor hair follicles (taken from the scalp, chest and beard) into the Hair Pen / Choi needle under the skin to be transplanted by giving the desired direction.

In DHI transplantation, hair follicles are placed directly with the Hair Pen / Choi needle, no bleeding and washing can be done the next day. Complete recovery takes place in as little as 1 week. It is recommended for beard transplantation and eyebrow transplantation in hair transplantation which is frequently planned in DHI technique.

Differences between FUE and DHI

In FUE transplantation, 40 hair can be planted to 1 cm2 area, in DHI transplantation, 120 hair can be planted to 1 cm2 area.

In FUE transplantation, since the channels where hair will be placed in the area where hair transplantation will be performed are opened, blood coagulation may occur in the channel. This causes 10% loss of hair follicles. However, in the DHI method, the Choi needle has a higher success rate since it does not cause any loss since it opens both the canal directly under the skin and places the hair follicles under the skin.

Disadvantages

Hair transplantation with body hair

Each hair follicle in the body can be taken from the desired place and planted to the desired place. Generally, when hair transplantation will be done, especially beard and chest hair is preferred because it is good quality hair. If there is not enough hair on the chest, other hairs such as arms and legs can be used for hair transplantation.

To close the scar and razor marks, the hairs from either the opposite arm or the leg are transplanted. The common belief that body hair comes out curly "is completely wrong. Body hair follicles are also like hair follicles of the person. However, because it is weaker and the friction movement of the dress does not mean that the bristles will be shed at the place of transplantation. It is not possible to notice the hair if sowing is done with sufficient frequency. The technical detail that is important here is to shorten the hairs with the shaver 1-2 months before the planting, that is, the roots need to be strengthened.

Hair transplantation to hide scars

Both scalp and the other parts of the body with hair (mustache, beard, eyebrow, arms) cut, burning, tearing, scratching after surgery such as traces of hairless areas remain traces. The only way to lose this trace is to eliminate the deficiency there. Hair transplantation is used in such cases by DHI technique using Choi needles for hair transplantation. As much as the density of the hair around the injury site, if the intensive planting can be done by DHI, almost all of the tracks will be camouflaged.

Eyebrow hair transplantation

In case of eyebrow loss or no eyebrow growth due to various reasons, transplantation can be performed by DHI method from the nape hair which is the closest thickness to the muscle. The best result is obtained by DHI method, since the scar that occurs after opening the eyebrow attracts much attention.

The hairs taken from the neck by FUE technique are planted in parallel with the angle and direction of the nearest eyebrow and by DHI method, and a close appearance is obtained. It takes 2-3 hours. Bathing can be done two days after the procedure. Slight redness and crusting occur in the sowing area. They will heal within a week at the latest.

The direction of the eyebrows planted in eyebrow transplantation is different according to hair transplantation. In order to create a natural eyebrow, it is necessary to determine the eyebrow directions well. Planted eyebrows grow faster than your existing eyebrows. This is normal.

The same result can be achieved in several sessions when the eyebrow is completely shed (madarosis). With age, the number of eyebrows also decreases. When sowing between these diluted eyebrows, a natural look can be obtained.

Beard and moustache hair transplantation

If the beard and mustache do not grow at all or rarely, a new facial expression can be achieved by making the beard sowing at the desired frequency at the desired line.

It is more dramatic than normal because it does not grow in places such as burns, cuts and scars in the beard and mustache area where the hairs are dense. These unsightly areas can be covered by follicle and DHI hair transplantation.
